Effect of Impact Load on the Bond between Steel and CFRP Laminate

چکیده

Carbon fiber reinforced polymers strengthen steel structural elements. These structural elements are normally subjected to static, dynamic and fatigue loadings during their life-time. CFRP laminate is commonly used structures under the subjected loads. A number of focused on the characteristics of CFRP sheets members under static, dynamic and fatigue loadings. is a gap in understanding the bonding behavior laminates and steel members under impact loading. This paper show the effect of high load rates on this bond. 150/2000 was used to strengthen steel joint epoxy. The results show that applying a high load rate affects the bond strength but has little influence on the effective bond length. Keywords—Adhesively-bonded joints, Bond strength, CFRP laminate, Impact tensile loading.

Strengthening of Scaled Steel-Concrete Composite Girders and Steel Monopole Towers with CFRP

Cost-effective rehabilitation and/or strengthening of steel structures currently demanded by the telecommunications industry and transportation departments. Rehabilitation is often required due to crosssection losses resulting from corrosion damage and strengthening may be required due to changes in the use of a structure. Current strengthening techniques, have several disadvantages including t...

Steel–CFRP Composite (CFRP Laminate Sandwiched between Mild Steel Strips) and It-s Behavior as Stirrup in Beams

In this present study, experimental work was conducted to study the effectiveness of newly innovated steel-CFRP composite (CFRP laminates sandwiched between two steel strips) as stirrups. A total numbers of eight concrete beams were tested under four point loads. Each beam measured 1600 mm long, 160mm width and 240 mm depth. The beams were reinforced with different shear reinforcements; one wit...

Experimental Investigations on U- and L-Shaped End Anchored CFRP Laminate Strengthened Reinforced Concrete Beams - Springer

Strengthening of reinforced concrete beams using externally bonded CFRP laminate is the most popular choice. However, premature end peeling of CFRP laminate has been shown to be the main weakness of this method. Development of high shear and normal stresses at the end of strengthening laminate is the key reason to cause end peeling which is not preventable by conventional anchoring system. This...

Failure assessment of steel/CFRP double strap joints

In the current study, the failure behavior of retrofitted steel structures was studied experimentally and theoretically with steel/CFRP double strap joints (DSJs) under quasi-static tensile loading. A series of DSJs with different bonding lengths are also considered and examined to experimentally assess the effective bond length. To predict the failure load values of the tested specimens, a new...
